Ceiling Insulation

Shop ceiling insulation for Australian homes, renovations and commercial projects from leading brands including Knauf Earthwool, Bradford, Pink Batts, SCG and Polyester Solutions. Compare ceiling insulation batts by R-value, material, thickness, dimensions, pack coverage and price to find the right product for your project. Our range includes thermal and acoustic ceiling insulation in popular R-values including R2.5, R3.5, R4.0, R5.0 and R6.0, with batt sizes suited to common Australian ceiling framing.

Choosing Ceiling Insulation

The right ceiling insulation depends on the thermal requirements of the building, available ceiling space and framing dimensions. Before ordering, compare the required R-value, batt width, thickness, material and square-metre coverage per pack. For existing homes, also consider the condition and coverage of any insulation already installed.

Ceiling Insulation R-Values

R-value measures resistance to heat flow. A higher R-value provides greater thermal resistance, but the right rating depends on the building, climate, ceiling construction, existing insulation and applicable project requirements. Our ceiling insulation range includes products across several R-values, allowing homeowners, builders and installers to compare thermal performance alongside thickness, batt dimensions and pack coverage.

R2.5 and R3.5 Ceiling Insulation

R2.5 and R3.5 ceiling insulation provides lower thermal resistance than higher-rated ceiling products and may suit particular building systems, existing homes or project specifications. Check the required thermal performance before selecting a product.

R4.0 Ceiling Insulation

R4.0 ceiling insulation is available across several materials, brands and batt sizes. Compare product thickness, 430mm and 580mm widths, pack coverage and price when choosing between R4.0 products.

R5.0 Ceiling Insulation

R5.0 ceiling insulation provides greater thermal resistance than R4.0 and is available from several leading insulation brands. Product dimensions and coverage vary, so compare specifications rather than R-value alone.

R6.0 and R7.0 Ceiling Insulation

R6.0 and R7.0 ceiling insulation provides higher levels of thermal resistance and is generally thicker than lower-rated alternatives. Check available ceiling space, batt dimensions and installation requirements before ordering.

Ceiling Insulation Batts

Ceiling insulation batts are pre-cut sections of bulk insulation designed to fit between common ceiling framing. They are available in different R-values, materials, thicknesses, widths and pack sizes. When comparing ceiling batts, consider the complete product specification rather than R-value alone. A suitable product should provide the required thermal resistance while fitting the available framing and ceiling space correctly.

430mm vs 580mm Ceiling Insulation Batts

430mm and 580mm are common batt widths across Australian ceiling insulation ranges. Neither width is inherently better — the correct size depends primarily on the spacing of the ceiling framing and the specifications of the individual product. Measure the intended installation area before ordering. Choosing a batt width suited to the framing can reduce unnecessary cutting, compression and gaps during installation.

Ceiling Insulation Thickness

Ceiling insulation thickness varies according to the material, R-value and product construction. Higher R-value batts are often thicker, but thickness alone does not determine thermal performance. Always compare the stated R-value and installed thickness of the specific product. Available ceiling space, building services and required clearances should also be considered before selecting thicker insulation.

Glasswool vs Polyester Ceiling Insulation

Glasswool and polyester are both available for suitable ceiling insulation applications, but their product specifications differ.

Glasswool Ceiling Insulation

Glasswool ceiling batts are widely available across different R-values, thicknesses and dimensions. Brands including Knauf Earthwool, Bradford, Pink Batts and SCG offer products for a range of residential and commercial ceiling applications.

Polyester Ceiling Insulation

Polyester ceiling batts provide another bulk insulation option and are available in different thermal ratings, thicknesses and batt dimensions. Compare the R-value, coverage, dimensions and price of the specific product when choosing between materials.

Ceiling Insulation Brands

No Gap Insulation stocks ceiling insulation from leading brands and manufacturers, giving customers the ability to compare R-values, dimensions, materials, coverage and pricing across multiple product ranges.

Knauf Earthwool

Knauf Earthwool ceiling insulation is available in multiple R-values and batt sizes. Compare the required thermal rating, thickness, width and pack coverage for your project.

Bradford

Bradford Gold ceiling insulation includes products across a range of R-values and dimensions for suitable residential ceiling applications.

Pink Batts

Pink Batts ceiling insulation is available in multiple thermal ratings and common batt widths, including products suited to different ceiling framing arrangements.

SCG

SCG ceiling insulation batts are available across several R-values and dimensions, providing additional options when comparing thermal performance, coverage and price.

Polyester Solutions

Polyester Solutions ceiling batts provide polyester insulation options across different R-values, thicknesses and widths for suitable ceiling applications.

How Much Ceiling Insulation Do I Need?

Start by calculating the ceiling area that needs to be insulated, then compare that figure with the square-metre coverage provided by each pack. Ceiling area ÷ coverage per pack = approximate number of packs required For example, a 100m² ceiling using insulation with 10m² coverage per pack would require approximately 10 packs before allowing for the particular layout, cutting or other project requirements. Always check the individual product dimensions and pack coverage before ordering.

Ceiling Insulation Prices

The cost of ceiling insulation varies according to R-value, material, brand, thickness, batt dimensions and pack coverage. Comparing only the price per pack can be misleading because different products contain different amounts of insulation. Compare the required thermal performance, square-metre coverage and product specifications alongside price to determine which option is suitable for your project.

How to Choose the Right Ceiling Insulation

Before purchasing ceiling insulation, consider:
  • Application: Confirm the product is suitable for the intended ceiling application.
  • R-value: Select the thermal resistance required for the building and project.
  • Batt width: Check the ceiling framing and choose suitable dimensions.
  • Thickness: Confirm there is sufficient space for the installed product.
  • Material: Compare glasswool, polyester and other suitable options.
  • Pack coverage: Calculate how many square metres each pack covers.
  • Price: Compare suitable products using their specifications and coverage rather than pack price alone.
For existing homes, inspect the condition and coverage of any existing insulation before deciding whether additional or replacement insulation is required.
